Abstract:

Education and philosophy are two important sciences that feed each other. Education programs are prepared in the light of a specific philosophy. It is expected that the philosophy of the program will reflect on all the elements of the program. Within the framework of the programs created teacher candidates who will train both students and students receive training. Individuals, who are raised according to the philosophy of the education program, shape their business and private life in line with the philosophy they adopt. Although there are many educational philosophies, four educational philosophies are frequently emphasized: Essentialism, permanentism, progressivism and reconstructionism. training programs currently used in Turkey is seen as designed by progressivism education philosophy. Metaphor is the indirect reflection of an individual's perceptions about a situation. This research aimed to determine which philosophy metaphors created for preschool teachers and their children reflect according to their educational philosophies. In the study, what is the perspective of teacher candidates and teachers on the concepts of "preschool teacher" and "child" and how successful are our programs designed based on progressive education philosophy to teachers and pre-service teachers? In the research, document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used. The data of the study consists of articles and theses published in Google Academic and Higher Education Council Thesis Center. A total of 7 articles and a master's thesis were examined. As a data source, metaphor studies on the concept of preschool teacher and child were used. Document analysis method was used in the analysis of the research. As a result of the research, it was observed that while the most preferred philosophy was "Permanence and Essentialism", the least preferred "Reconstructionism" philosophy. As a result of the findings, it was seen that the educators still had a traditional mindset in their views on children and teachers. Some suggestions were made because of the research.
