Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the frequency of exposure to fellow harassment and the socio-demographic characteristics between high school students. The sample of the study was formed by 5 state high school students randomly selected in the districts of Üsküdar, Ümraniye and Kadıköy in Istanbul. The study was conducted on 937 high school students (434 girls, 503 men) continuing to 6th, 7th and 8th classes. The study used the "Adolescent Form for the Scale of Identification of Adolescent Violence" (Ayas and Pişkin, 2015) to determine the frequency of students showing fellow harassment and exposing to fellow harassment. The "Sosiodemographic Form" was prepared by the researcher to determine the sociodemographic characteristics. As a result of targeted analysis, the frequency of mutilation of fellow men showed statistically significant differences according to age, success, psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, regular social activity, the survival of the parent and class level. The frequency of exposure to fellow harassment has statistically significantly varied according to age, success, psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, psychological support, regular social activity and class level. The findings were discussed in the context of the literature.
