Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the levels of self-sabotage and self-respect of disabled and non-disabled swimmers. The universe of the research consists of swimmers participating in the 2019 Physical Disabled Turkey Championship with licensed swimmers competing in clubs, while the research group consists of 64 disabled swimmers and 138 non-disabled swimmers (n=202). The required ethical board permits and written approvals of the participants were received before the work. The personal information form for the collection of data was developed by Rhodewalt (1990) and used by the Turkish adaptation Akın (2012) as well as by Rosenberg (1965) as well as by Tukuş (2010) as well as by the Turkish adaptation of the Turkish adaptation of the Turkish adaptation of the Turkish adaptation of the Turkish adaptation. Since the data did not show normal distribution, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used to study the differences between the groups. For the correlation analysis, the Spearman rho ratio was used. According to the results of statistical analyses, there was no significant difference between the CPO and the CPO scores of disabled and non-disabled swimmers. When the relationship between BSÖ and KSÖ points was studied, it was found that disabled swimmers had a negative relationship at the middle level between BSÖ points and KSÖ points, while non-disabled swimmers had a weak level of this relationship. It has been concluded that disabled athletes have high BSÖ scores and that sporting has a positive impact on disabled swimmers’ KSÖ scores. It is estimated that it will be useful to encourage and support people with disabilities to do sports in order to ensure their levels of self-respect are raised.
