Genellikle Ýslâm toplumunun “sosyal tarihiyle” ilgilendiðini bildiðimiz Dr. Ramazan Altýnay’ýn Emevîlerde Günlük Yaþam1 isimli doktora çalýþmasýndan sonra hazýrlamýþ olduðu bu yeni eseri de, ilk dönemlerin sosyo-ekonomik tarihine ýþýk tutucu mahiyette olup Ýlk Dönem Ýslâm Toplumunda Çalýþma Hayatý-Emevîlerde Esnaf ve Meslekler- adýyla 2006 yýlýnda Konya’da basýlmýþtýr. Eser, giriþ ve iki bölümden oluþmaktadýr. Yazar eserin önsözünde belirttiði üzere Emevîlerin siyasi tarihinin gerek Doðulu gerekse de Batýlý araþtýrmacýlar tarafýndan detaylý olarak incelendiðini; fakat bir dönemin ancak siyasi, sosyal, ekonomik, kültürel vb. bütün boyutlarýyla ele alýnmasýyla daha iyi anlaþýlabileceðini söylemektedir.
