Religion is the center of the basic acceptance of society when it is a institution that contains a sacred book and a law that develops around it. At this point, the philosopher’s view of the society and the order of life (the theory of religion) based on the religion, the sacred book and the religion determines the relationship between philosophy and religion. Among the Islamic philosophers, Farabi has a special place in terms of the originality and extent of the religious theory. He addressed the relationship between philosophy and religion in its historical and epistemological aspects and positioned religion as an important element of the world in which philosophy was founded. This positioning requires that religion be regarded as part of philosophy, so that the philosophy-religion relationship should be treated in the form of a part-relation with the whole. According to this, religion is both the Nazareth and the operational parts and the scope of philosophy and takes its principles from the Nazareth and the operational parts of philosophy. The religion of philosophy has an ontological and epistemological priority as well as a time priority. The pharaoh both presents his narrative of the historical success of philosophy with such a priority idea, and points out the importance of the religious priority of philosophy in terms of the ideal order of a society or civilization. This study will include the various dimensions of the religious priority of philosophy in the thought system of Farabi, and will point out that the epistemological priority and time priority ideas must be addressed on a mutually supporting and integrating basis.
