Abstract:

Aging is a nonpreventable and irreversible process. The increase in elderly population in recent years in Turkey has increased the need for nursing homes located between models of social services for the elderly. Although many problems are encountered in the old age process, the most prominent of these problems is the care of elderly individuals. Although all individuals in the old age process do not need care, most of them are likely to need help due to their illness and physical disability. Families have to choose one of the social care alternatives due to the fact that individuals overcome the illnesses in a long time and physical disabilities. Participation of women in the business life, especially in the industrial society, caused the elderly to not be able to do home care and to transfer the care service to the institutions. In this study, the daily lives and expectations of elderly women in nursing homes will be discussed and evaluated.
