Abstract:

This research aims to study, identify and present the doctoral theses on thinking skills in Turkey between 2001-2019. In this regard, 81 doctoral thesis has been evaluated in terms of general characteristics, purposes, types of thinking skills, research methods, sampling characteristics. It is believed that the research will contribute to researchers and the field that will undertake postgraduate studies on the thinking skills. In the research, the image analysis, which is one of the methods of content analysis from the quality approaches, was used. The examples of the 81 doctoral thesis were obtained from the official website of the YÖK National Thesis Center. The university and institute where the 81 doctoral theses are registered and approved in the YÖK National Thesis Center, the year of publication, the purpose, the thinking skills, the research approach, the design, the sample type, the sample size of eight types of data are processed into the thesis review form developed by the researcher in the Microsoft Excel program. The theses were studied by document review, and the data were analyzed by visual and content analysis. The doctoral theses on thinking skills have been seen to be done mostly at the Educational Scientific Institutions and at the University of Gazi. The studies have gained intensity in the years 2018 and 2019, which are the most of the last two years. The aim is mostly addressed to the impact of training / program / activity, etc. on the thinking skills of practices. The thesis is focused on the ability to think critically. Nicel approach and semi-experimental patterns have been frequently used. The most primary school students were taken as a sample type, with a maximum of 31-69 people being studied.
