Abstract:

As it is known, origami is a form of story art that is based on the careful toleration of thin paper pieces. Three-dimensional geometry, continuity and order are the main artistic elements that stand out in the origami art. This study was carried out with the aim of pointing out the interactions of the Japanese paper tapping art 'origami' with other visual arts disciplines, studying and illustrating the visual effects of the origami art in the textile field. In this context; new designs in art textiles were aimed at creation and some applications were made. With the influence of globalization, cultural interaction between countries has increased, but it has brought new openings to the efforts to present different designs. But the diversity of origami as an art form has been thrown away, although many of the examples are found, it has not been sufficiently argued. In contemporary textile art, new art products that arise with advanced technology, freedom of mind, search for originality and interdisciplinary interaction have brought a mobility. The interaction in visual culture is generally accepted in the textile field as well as in all branches of art. Interdisciplinary work is of great importance for the designers to have a vision and to have a visual impact on the other side. The textile field is able to create various tectonic and athectonic arrangements in terms of material. Textile artists and designers have interacted with cultures around the world and have presented new products by mixing their own designs in the technical and aesthetic visuals of the textile. The essence of an art product is the desire to communicate with the technical, material and visuality which is the basis of its existence. The visual effects of Origami art are also observed in textile designs. Our research has found origami effects in many textile products. Research was carried out with literature scan, observation, conversations with the relevant persons, quality research technique. During the research process; the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Çukurova, the Department of Textile and Fashion Design students have studied the designs and the studies done at different universities in the course. In this study, the origami technique has been done with effective textile surface applications.
