Abstract:

Our study, titled "The Formation of Self in Yunus Emre and Kierkegaard" is a study in which we examine how the self is formed by free choices, by focusing on the basic works of both philosophers. The self, which was designed by the divine will in Yunus Emre under the guidance of the universal mind transforms into a philosophy in which the self is built by free choice in the universe of possibilities, by handling all human acts that are despised under the name of Kierkegaard subjectivity with a divine basis. The priority of the self-architecture of both philosophers is to emphasize the subject versus the matter, and the positive human qualities versus objectivity. According to Kierkegaard and Yunus Emre, it’s essential to regulate the personal qualities of the mind without sacrificing its characteristics to objects or dull principles against the positivist approach of the external world or the principles of extreme rationalist prescriptions that are considered timeless and infallible. In our study, we tried to reveal how two distinguished philosophers, with their powers of feeling and expression, can realize the human being within ideologies or ultra-rationalist philosophies without melting their ego against matter.
