Abstract:

In this study, the experiences of Syrian asylum seeker women whose husbands are missing during the forced migration process, social problems, and the effects on social cohesion were analyzed. In this study, the difficulties experienced by asylum seeker women whose husbands are missing, the problems and risks they face in the process of social cohesion are discussed. In the study, which used a semi-structured in-depth interview method, one of the qualitative research designs, ten asylum seeker women living in Şanlıurfa were interviewed. The obtained findings were interpreted and analyzed. It has been revealed that women whose spouses are missing are in great uncertainty, especially for the future. This uncertainty is at the forefront of the difficulties asylum seeker women face who cannot hear from their husbands. In addition, gender roles, abuse, language problems, and prejudices become prominent as essential obstacles to social cohesion in the country of immigration. It has been revealed that the rate of encountering risks and threats among asylum-seeker women is high during the migration process.
