Abstract:

The purpose of the study is to examine the digital parenting attitude according to various variables and determine the relationship between children's safe internet use and the digital parenting attitude. In the study, the correlational survey model as one of the quantitative research models was used. The study includes 487 children studying at secondary education level in different provinces of Türkiye and their parents. The Digital Parenting Attitude Scale, The Unsafe Internet Usage Scale and The EU Kids Online Questionnaire were used to collect data in the study. According to the study results, the digital parenting attitude does not change according to the parent gender. Parent's education level causes differentiation in the digital parenting attitude. As the age of the parents increases, the digital parenting attitude decreases. The digital technologies owned by the parents positively affect the digital parenting attitude. While there is a low level of positive relationship between the digital parenting attitude and children's access to the opportunities offered by digital media, no relationship was found between the risks they will face.
