Abstract:

The study is intended to analyze the impact of Covid-19 on security by focusing on the working division that has become confusing between the police and the army. Covid-19, first appeared in China in December 2019 and soon then spread throughout Europe. After that, political authorities around the world have declared that one-on-one disease is a threat to safety. In this context, the pandemic is claimed to form a new phase in the security transformation after the Cold War and after the September 11 attacks. The article claims that under developing conditions with the rise of Covid-19, police and the army are taking new responsibilities in the fight against the pandemic. The uncertain and foolish character of these new duties has made it possible for the police and the army to perform functions in a wider sphere and to exercise the authority of appreciation. In addition, the pandemic has also begun to transform the traditional role distribution and business division between police and the army. In this process, the army began to take more roles within the state borders with Covid-19. Military personnel are supported in the field of health and internal security. In many Western countries – including the US – the support of the army to the police has become a common practice. Police have been using more violence to monitor the ban on coronavirus during this period. In this regard, it can be said that Covid-19 contributed to the process of militarization of the police in non-consolidated democracies.
