BİLİM KAMPININ ORTAOKUL ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN BİLİMSEL SÜREÇ BECERİLERİNE VE FENE KARŞI TUTUMLARINA ETKİSİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin Bilimsel Süreç Becerilerine ve Fene Karşı Tutumlarına olan Artvin Doğa ve Bilim Kampı'nın etkinliğini değerlendirmektir. 115B089 koduyla Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu (TÜBİTAK) tarafından desteklenen bu proje, öğrencilere öğrenmeyi öğrenme yaklaşımı kullanarak çeşitli uygulamalı etkinlikler tasarlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu 30 ortaokul öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tek grup ön test-son test modeli uygulanmıştır. Veriler Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Testi ve Fen Bilgisi ile İlgili Tutum Testi kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Deneyleri deneyerek ve gözlemleyerek yaparak ve öğrenerek öğrenmenin öğrencilerin bilimsel süreç becerilerini (t (29) = - 6,31, p <.05) ve fen ile ilgili tutumlarını (t(29)=-2,99, p<.05) olumlu yönde arttırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonucu, bize bilim kampının öğrencilerin bilimsel süreç becerilerine ve fene karşı olumlu tutum geliştirmelerine yardımcı olduklarına dair ampirik kanıtlar verdi.

What Do Middle School Students Gain From A Week-long Science Camp In Terms Of Science Process Skills and Attitudes Toward Science

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a science camp, namely Artvin Nature and Science Camp, on middle school students’ SPS and ATS. Supported by Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) of Turkey with a code of 115B089, this camp is designed to provide students with diverse hands-on activities using learning-by-doing approach. The study group consists of 30 middle-school students. The one-group pretest-posttest design, a type of quantitative research methodology, was adopted. Data were collected using Science Process Skills Test and Test of Science Related Attitudes. It has been found that learning by doing and learning by experimenting and observing approaches contributed students’ science process skills (t(29)=- 6,31, p<.05) and science related attitudes (t(29)=-2,99, p<.05) in a positive way. The result of this study gave us empirical evidence that science camp help students to gain SPS and to develop favorable ATS.
