Abstract:

The trade wars, which began with the investigation launched by the U.S. on Chinese goods in March 2018 and the customs tariffs considered to be applied to imported goods from China, are considered to be a continuation of conservation activities worldwide after the 2008 financial crisis, but the US President Trump’s practices targeting China in particular show that the only cause of this war is not economic. China’s economic developments and actions in the past decades, as well as the changes in international order, are a threat to the current situation by the United States. The aim of this study is to analyze the main causes of the U.S. President's trade war. Considering the developments in the international arena, the causes of trade wars appear to be derived from the hegemony war with China, which is believed to be a threat to the U.S. leadership of a single-pole international order.
