Abstract:

Livane, which was a starboard at the beginning of the 19th century and later turned into a district, is an important region for the protection of the surrounding areas. In addition, during the Ottoman-Iranian war of 1820-1923 that took place in this century, and the Ottoman-Russian wars of 1828-1829 and 1853-1856, it became an important place where soldiers and ammunition were demanded for the protection of the eastern regions. During the wars, Livane was an important resistance zone, and the administrators of Livane were assigned to participate in the war with the soldiers in their entourage. Since banditry events were encountered in Livane in this century, this situation led to the organization of military operations in the region to ensure public order. Apart from the banditry incidents, soldiers were sent to the region due to impropriety such as committing murder in the Livane district and some sub-districts of the district and the people's unwillingness to pay taxes. For these reasons, it has been understood that the district administrators, the members of the parliament and the notables played a role in the confusion in the region as a result of the investigations made after the letters and petitions containing complaints were sent to Istanbul by both the people of the district and the local administrators in Livane and the regions to which Livane is affiliated. Military demands, on the other hand, were about the salaries of this group and the construction of a warehouse for weapons and clothes belonging to the military forces and a place for the residence of the municipal police forces. The state has sent orders to the necessary places to ensure security in the region and to fulfill the demands.
