Abstract:

Sunnah, which is in the second rank in the hierarchy of shar’i (juridical) evidences, has a great importance in all Islamic disciplines in general and in terms of Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh) and fiqh methodology in particular. Due to the importance mentioned above, scholars have made a serious effort about the confirmation and indication of the Sunnah. From the first period, in the discipline of fiqh methodology, the belonging of the transmitted Sunnah to the Prophet (pbuh) and its knowledge value have been discussed and it has been categorized based on the number of narrators who narrated it. In terms of epistemological value, Mutawatir (successive) khabar (knowledge) is accepted as definitive evidence because it expresses certain knowledge, while different opinions have been claimed about whether or not Ahaad (Singular) khabar expresses a knowledge value. Scholars have disagreed both on the knowledge value of Ahaad khabar (knowledge) and on acting with it in matters of shar’i acting. Therefore, This study aims to reveal the views of scholars on the knowledge and evidentiary value of Ahaad khabar together with their evidences. In order to determine and reveal the debates about the knowledge and evidence value of the Ahaad khabar in the study, the main sources in the field of Islamic Jurisprudence (fiqh) were taken as a basis, as well as the recent studies were also applied.
