Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının akademik erteleme düzeyleri ile öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek, akademik erteleme eğilimi ile öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlar arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olup olmadığını incelemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Amasya Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi'nde öğrenim görmekte olan 722 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Aitken (1982) tarafından geliştirilen Balkıs (2006) tarafından uyarlanan “Akademik Erteleme Ölçeği" ile Üstüner (2006) tarafından geliştirilen “Öğretmenlik Mesleğine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre akademik erteleme davranışı ile öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlar arasında negatif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Öğretmen adaylarının akademik erteleme eğilimi; mezun olunan lise türüne göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterirken, öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumları ise mezun olunan lise türüne ve ailesinde öğretmenlik mesleği yapan birinin bulunma durumuna göre farklılık göstermediği görülmüştür. Öğretmen adaylarının davranışlarındaki erteleme eğilimi düzeyinin azaltılması ve bu doğrultuda öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarını artırmak için etkili zaman yönetimi, planlı çalışma gibi sosyal beceri kazandırmaya yönelik grup çalışmalarının düzenlenmesinin yararlı olabileceği düşünülmektedir.
