Abstract:

The aim of this study is to develop a measuring instrument for identifying the learning anxieties of students learning Turkish as a second language. The study group of the research consists of 228 foreign students learning Turkish as a foreign language at Bursa Uludağ University in the 2018-2019 academic year. According to the literature review and the interviews made with the students, the first form of 29 items has been obtained. Validity and reliability studies were carried out with the data obtained from foreign students. As the result of the analysis, a structure having 2 factors and 19 items acceptable fit indexes named as narrative and comprehension techniques clarifying 53.96% of the total variance of the scale was obtained.  The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients calculated for the reliability of the scale were found as 0.91 for narrative techniques factor, as 0.85 for comprehension factor and as 0.93 for the overall scale. As a result of the analyses, it could be noted that the Anxiety Scale of Learning Turkish as A Second Language is a valid and reliable measurement instrument
