Yaşlılık sürecindegenel tanımıyla biyopsikososyal olarak tanımlanan insanoğlunda önemli değişimler meydana gelmektedir. Biyopsikososyal değişimle paralel olarak yaşlılık döneminde önemli bir değişime uğradığı öne sürülen konulardan biri zeka konusudur. Fakat “Zeka nedir?” sorusuna halen yanıt aranmaktadır ve bilim insanları tarafından bu kavramın tanımı hakkında bir konsensüs bulunmamaktadır. Kullanılan zeka testlerinin aslında neyi ölçtüğüne dair tartışmalar da davam etmektedir. Genel anlamda zeka kavramının yanı sıra bu kavram yaşlılıkla birlikte kullanıldığında durum daha da karmaşık bir hal almaktadır. Bununla birlikte, yaşlılara karşı olan olumsuz stereotipilerin de yaşlılıktaki zeka konusuna olumsuz etkileri olduğu söylenebilir. It is also discussing what the intelligence tests are actually measured. In general, in addition to the concept of intelligence, when this concept is used with age, the situation becomes even more complicated. However, negative stereotypes against the elderly can also be said to have a negative impact on the subject of age intelligence. The point focused on this article is how objectively the intelligence points obtained from the elderly are measured and not measured by existing tests and methods and how reliable the points obtained are. It should not be forgotten that regardless of how numerous the data obtained are, these data should not be assessed independently of context.
