Abstract:

This study has been carried out to adapt the Pregnancy Symptoms Inventory to Turkish society by conducting its Turkish validity and reliability study. The study has been conducted methodologically between February 2015 and April 2016 in a maternity hospital in a city of eastern Turkey. This study has been carried out with 506 pregnant women who met the study inclusion criteria. The language validity of the scale has been analyzed by using translation-back translation method and its content validity has been conducted through expert opinions. The scale has been performed to the sample group after the pilot application. As the result of the factor analysis, it has been determined that the scale has a single factor structure and its factor loadings are in a convenient interval. As the result of the internal consistency analysis of the scale, item total correlations has found to be sufficient and the Cronbach alpha coefficient has been found to be 0.91. Since the scale evaluates both pregnancy complaints and quality of life, according to expert opinions, The Turkish title of the scale has been determined as “The Scale of Complaints During Pregnancy and Their Effect on Quality of Life ", considering that it would be more understandable and more appropriate when adapting it to Turkish society. The scale has been determined to be a valid and reliable assessment tool for the Turkish population.
