Abstract:

Disadvantageousness is a social problem limiting the participation of individuals in social life. Disadvantaged adult individuals receive support from non-formal education institutions. Qur’an courses in Turkey, offers significant opportunities for disadvantaged adult women. This paper has focused on the role of the Qur’an courses under the Presidency of Religious Affairs in solving the disadvantageousness of disadvantaged adult women due to education, migration and economic insufficiency. In addition, the contributions of Qur’an courses to the emergence of implicit self, socialization, spiritual counseling-guidance needs and the solution of individual-spiritual problems have examined. The sample group of the study consists of disadvantaged adult women and instructors in the Qur’an courses where adult women continue their courses in Sakarya. As a result of the study, it was observed that Qur’an courses played important roles in eliminating disadvantageousness and the adult women who participated in the course contributed to their personal, social and spiritual contribution.
