Abstract:

This study also studied whether the relationship between the student’s communication skills and speech anxiety was determined and whether the student’s communication skills and speech anxiety scores differed according to the variables of gender, class and academic studies. The research was carried out with the scanning design that is included among the quantum research methods. With the "Communication Skills Scale" developed by Korkut Owen and Bugay (2014) and the "Communication Skills Scale" developed by Yaman and Suroğlu Sofu (2013) we have collected data from 399 students studying at the educational faculty using the "Communication Skills Scale". Data analysis was analyzed using the SPSS 22 statistical package program. In the process of analysis the change of communication skills and speech anxiety points according to the variables of gender and academic studies follow-up independent sampling t-test; the change according to class level is studied using the one-way variance analysis test. The relationship between communication skills and speech anxiety points was studied by calculating the Pearson Correlation ratio. The findings found that the communication skill ratings of teachers who follow academic studies are significantly higher; the speaking anxiety ratings are lower and significant. There was no change in class and gender ratio. It has been found that there is a positive meaningful relationship at the middle level between the teacher candidates’ communication skills and the speech anxiety points. As a result, the level of communication skills of the educational faculty students increases, the speech concerns decrease.
