Finansal piyasalardaki gelişmeler ve uluslararası ticareti faaliyetlerin artmasıyla birlikte muhasebe eğitiminin küresel dünyaya uyum sağlamasına duyulan ihtiyaç küreselleşme ile beraber tetiklenmektedir. Bu çalışma, küreselleşmenin Türkiye’deki yükseköğretim işlevlerini ve muhasebe eğitimini nasıl etkilediğini açıklamaktadır. Ayrıca, çalışmanın amacı küreselleşmenin, yükseköğretim ve muhasebe eğitimine olan etkilerini odak grubu tekniği kullanarak SWOT analizi ile güçlü yanları, zayıf yanları, fırsatları ve tehditleri oluşturarak mevcut durumu ortaya çıkarmaktır. İstanbul ilinde bulunan bir devlet, iki vakıf üniversitesinde ders vermekte olan toplamda 10 muhasebe ve finans öğretim üyesi ve görevlisi bir araya getirilerek, konu ile ilgili görüşler tartışılarak sekiz güçlü, beş zayıf, beş fırsat ve dört tehdit maddesi ortaya çıkmıştır
With the developments in the financial markets and increasing international trade activities, the need for accounting training to adapt to the global world is triggered by globalization. This study explains how globalization affects higher education functions and accounting education in Turkey. Furthermore, the study aims to reveal the current situation by creating strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with SWOT analysis using the focus group technique of the effects of globalization, higher education and accounting education. A state located in the province of Istanbul, together with a total of 10 accounting and finance faculty members and officials who are teaching in two foundation universities, discussing opinions on the subject, eight strong, five weak, five opportunities and four threat items appeared.
Effects of globalization have become significantly apparent in every aspect. Along with globalization, the need for accounting education is being triggered by the development of financial markets and the elimination of barriers to trade. This study explains how some aspects of globalization affect higher education and accounting education in Turkey. Moreover, the aim of this study is to examine the effects of globalization on higher and accounting education by using focus group technique in order to perform a SWOT analysis to create strong sides, weak sides, opportunities, and threats. Ten accounting and finance instructors are brought together from one state and two foundation universities in Istanbul to discuss on the subject, and as a result, eight strong, five weak, five opportunity and four threat items emerged
