Göç İdaresi Genel Müdürlüğü’nün (GİGM) Mayıs 2020 yılı Göç İstatistik verilerine göre, Elazığ’da kent merkezi ve ilçelerinde 11.944 geçici koruma altındaki Suriyeli göçmen yaşamaktadır. Bu rakamın büyük bir bölümü de Elazığ kent merkezinde ikamet etmektedir. Bu bağlamda, araştırmada Elazığ kent merkezindeki Suriyelilerin kentteki sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik uyumu ile Elazığ’da yaşayan Suriyelilerin yerli halkla etkileşim düzeylerini ve kentin yaşayış ve düşünüş tarzını içselleştirme biçimlerini ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmış bir saha araştırmasıdır. Suriyeli göçmenlerin yoğunluklu olarak yaşadığı ilk 15 mahalle muhtarı ile derinlemesine görüşme yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmada, sahadan elde edilen veriler betimsel yöntemle çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, Suriyeli göçmenlerin Suriye’de iken ait oldukları toplumsal sınıfın ve ekonomik gelişmişlik düzeylerinin Türk toplumuna sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik uyumlarını doğrudan etkilediği tespit edilmiştir.
According to the May 2020 Immigration Statistics of the General Directorate of the Immigration Administration (GIGM), 11,944 Syrian migrants under temporary protection live in the city center and districts of Elazığ. A large part of this number is located in the city centre. In this context, the study aims to reveal the social-cultural and economic harmony of the Syrians in the city center of Elazığ and the levels of interaction with the indigenous people of the Syrians living in Elazığ and the ways of incorporating the city’s way of life and thinking. Research is a field research used by the quality research method. The first 15 neighborhoods in which Syrian migrants live intensely have been discussed. In this study, the data obtained from the field has been analyzed in an imaginary way. The study found that the social class and levels of economic development in which Syrian migrants belonged while in Syria directly affected their socio-cultural and economic harmony with the Turkish society.
According to the Immigration Statistics data of the Directorate General of Migration Management in May 2020, 11.944 Syrian migrants live under temporary protection in the urban center and its districts in Elazig. A large part of this figure resides in Elazig city center. Hence, in this study, it is aimed to reveal the socio-cultural and economic harmony of Syrians in the city center of Elazig, and the interaction level of Syrians living in Elazig with the local people, and the way they internalize the city's way of living and thinking. The research is a field research using qualitative research method. In-depth interviews were made with the first 15 elected neighborhood headman in which Syrian immigrants live densely. In this research, the data obtained from the field were analyzed with the descriptive method. It is found as a result of the research that the social class and the level of economic development of Syrian migrants, which they carried when they were in Syria, directly affect their socio-cultural and economic adaptations to the Turkish society. Furthermore, it is observed that the willingness of the indigenous people to live with the immigrant Syrians gradually decreases.
