Abstract:

In this study, the self-concept of children attending the 4th grade of primary school was examined according to some variables. The study group consisted of primary school 4th grade children (n = 228). “Piers Harris Self-Concept Scale” was used in data collection. In the analysis of the data, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H Tests were used according to the normality distribution of the variables. It was determined that the number of siblings did not make a significant difference in self-concept. It has been determined that the children whose mothers are between the ages of 36-40 have better self-concepts about their physical appearance than those whose mothers are 31-35 years old; happiness levels of children whose fathers are 51 years or older are lower than those whose fathers are younger. It has been determined that if the mother's educational status is low, the child's happiness, anxiety and mental score averages are also low; if the father's education level is high, the happiness levels of the children are high and their anxiety levels are low.
