Orta Asya Türk Cumhuriyetleri bağımsızlıklarını kazanmak amacıyla tarihsel süreçte çok çeşitli mücadeleler içinde bulundu. Tüm bu cumhuriyetler içinde bağımsızlık yıllarında özellikle Azerbaycan’da yaşanan gelişmeler ise dikkat çekicidir. Dağlık Karabağ sorunu olarak dünya tarihine geçen silahlı çatışmalar da bu süreçte Azerbaycan’da yaşanan en önemli gelişmedir. Bu bağlamda Dağlık Karabağ’da Azerbaycan ile Ermenistan arasında yaşanan gerilimler sadece bu iki devletin değil, dünyanın diğer tüm devletlerinin de ilgilendikleri gelişmeler olmuştur. Dünya politikalarında söz sahibi olan İngiltere ise bu ülkelerden birisi olarak karşımızı çıkmaktadır. Toplumların meydana gelen olaylar hakkında bilgilendirilmelerini sağlayan gazetelerde çeşitli politik, kültürel, sosyal, ekonomik bilgiler yer almaktadır. Toplum için bir üçüncü göz konumundaki gazeteler temsil ettikleri ülkeler için de birer algı aracı vazifesini görerek toplumun dini, siyasi, sosyolojik, ekonomik vb. algılarını da yönlendirebilmektedir. Daha önce bahsettiğimiz gibi dünyanın ilgisini çeken Dağlık Karabağ olaylarına elbette İngiliz medyası da ilgisiz kalmadı. İngiltere’nin dünya medyasındaki en önemli ve en etkili temsilcisi ise The Times gazetesidir. Gazete bilgisayarlarda yazı yazma işlemlerinde kullanılan Word programında dahi yazı formatı olarak kendi ismini yerleştiren bir etkiye sahiptir. İşte bu çalışmada İngiliz basınından The Times gazetesi kaynak olarak kullanıldı. Dağlık Karabağ’da yaşanan gelişmelere nasıl yaklaşıldığı haber içerikleri analiz edilip yorumlanarak cevaplanmaya çalışıldı. Sonuçta The Times gazetesinin tüm dünyada etkin bir medya aracı olması nedeniyle olaylara da ilgili olduğu görüldü. Bununla birlikte bölge üzerinde dini bir bakış açısı olduğu belirlendi. Gazetede yaşanan gelişmeler sırasında daha çok Sovyetler Birliği’nin hareketlerinin gözlendiği Ermenistan’ın da yaşanan gelişmelerde haklı olarak görüldüğü ortaya konuldu.
Central Asian Turkic Republics have been involved in various struggles in the historical process in order to gain their independence. Among all these republics, developments in Azerbaijan, especially in the years of independence, are remarkable. Armed conflicts which took place in the history of the world as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, are the most important developments in Azerbaijan in this process. In this context, the tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh have been of interest not only to these two states but also to all other states of the world. England, which has a voice in world politics, stands out as one of these countries. Various political, cultural, social and economic information are available in the newspapers, which provide information to communities about the events. Newspapers, which are the third eye for the society, are also a tool of perception for the countries they represent, and the society's religion, political, sociological, economic, etc. It can also guide their perceptions. Britain's most important and most influential representative in the world media is The Times newspaper. The newspaper has an effect that places its own name as the text format even in the Word program used in writing operations on computers. As we mentioned before, the British media did not remain indifferent to the Nagorno-Karabakh incidents, which attracted the attention of the world. In this study, The Times newspaper from the British press was used as a source. An attempt was made to answer how the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh were approached, by analyzing and interpreting the contents of the news published in the newspaper. As a result, it was seen that The Times newspaper was also involved in the events as it was an effective media tool all over the world. At the same time, it was determined that there was a religious perspective on the region. During the developments in the newspaper, the movements of the Soviet Union were observed; It has been revealed that Armenia is rightly seen in the developments.
