Abstract:

In this study, the aim is to determine the educational needs of teachers candidates in relation to the teaching of the course of science teaching laboratory practices (FÖLU) provided in the Science Knowledge Teaching Bachelor program. The research has been used in the study of quality research models. The research unit is formed by teachers candidates who take FÖLU courses at an university in the south of Turkey. The required permissions were obtained from the teachers candidates and the teachers who gave the lesson for research. As a data collection tool, the interview form was prepared and formed according to the expert opinions and discussed with a total of twelve teachers candidates. The transcripts of the audio recordings related to the interview were removed and the data was analyzed with a tubular approach in accordance with the interview questions. The data subcategories and the most repeated codes were tried to increase validity by making direct quotes from the participants. Six months after the first analysis, the two researchers met again and compared their views on whether the categories and subcategories obtained from transcripts were obtained or not. As a result of the comparison, the combination of opinions between the two researchers was calculated at 0.86. The results of the analysis are shown that there are also aspects that need to be developed in addition to the objects that support the teaching process (mass, content, teaching-learning process and measurement and evaluation). In accordance with the results of the research obtained, recommendations on the program in the application have also been made to increase the effectiveness of the cover program in the course.
