İktisat sosyolojisi kavram olarak 1879 yılından bugüne kullanılmaktadır. İktisadi olaylara sosyoloji disiplininin penceresinden bakmayı gerektiren iktisat sosyolojisi Weber ve Durkheim’ın değerlendirmeleri ile başlayan süreçte sosyolojinin önemli konularından biri olmuştur. İktisat sosyolojisi; sosyal değişme, sosyal yapı, eşitsizlik ve sosyal farklılaşma gibi hemen her sosyoloğun ilgilendiği bir alan olmayıp sosyoloji ile iktisadın arakesitidir. İktisat politikalarında ve uygulamalarında meydana gelen değişmeler iktisat sosyolojisinin itibarını etkilemektedir. 1980 li yıllardan sonra uygulanan politika değişiklikleri iktisat sosyolojisinin önemini tekrar artırmıştır. Bu dönemde iktisat ve sosyolojiyi ayıran geleneksel sınırlar yeniden belirlenmeye başlamıştır. Sosyolojik yaklaşımların iktisat politikalarına nazaran fazlalığı iktisat sosyolojisinin zorluklarının en önemlisidir. Bu zorluğun aşılmasında izlenecek yollardan birisi insanı ve insanla ilgili olanların tanımlanmasıdır. Bu incelemede sosyal bilimlerin insan tasavvuru yeniden değerlendirilmiş, insanların eylemleri ile yapı arasındaki ilişki sorgulanmıştır.
The concept of economic sociology has been used since 1879. Economic sociology, which requires to look at economic events from the window of the sociology discipline, has become one of the important subjects of sociology in the process, starting with the assessments of Weber and Durkheim. Economic sociology is an archaeology of social change, social structure, inequality and social differentiation, not a field where almost every sociologist is concerned, but sociology and economics. Changes in economic policies and practices affect the reputation of economic sociology. The political changes implemented after the 1980s have increased the importance of economic sociology again. During this period, the traditional boundaries between economics and sociology have begun to be redefined. The excess of sociological approaches to economic policies is the most important of the challenges of economic sociology. One of the ways to overcome this difficulty is to identify the people and those that are related to the people. In this study, the human design of social sciences has been re-evaluated, the relationship between human actions and structures has been questioned.
