Abstract:

The women who entered the working life with the Industrial Revolution enabled the continuity of working life in Turkey with the declaration of the republic, especially in the 2000s they started to play an active role in the management units. Although the number of women in the Turkish National Education system is high, the roles in management are very small compared to men. It is thought that the viewpoints of teachers who work in schools towards women managers and whether they should see women managers as leaders directly influence the orientation of women teachers to management. In this study, it was investigated whether the leadership behaviors perceived by teachers about female managers in educational institutions differed according to gender, age, seniority, level of education, branch, marital status, school and graduate school and the duration of working with female manager.  The research population consists of 250 pre-school elementary school, junior high school and high school teachers in Erzincan province and districts in 2015-2016 educational. In the sample of the research, 289 teachers from 22 school administrations, in which the female manager works. A Likert scale consisting of 2 subcategories was used from 22 questions that was developed. In addition, the desired demographic characteristics of the teachers were determined by the personal information form. Frequency and percentage values of demographics, the arithmetic mean and standard deviation of scores obtained from the calculated scale, the difference tests of t test, analysis of variance (One- Way ANOVA), Kruskal-Wallis H-test were analyzed using SPSS 17.0 package program in analyzing the data.
