Abstract:

The Mesudiye Madrasah which was built during the period of the Artuqids has continued its activities as an educational institution during the Ottoman Period as this was the case in the past and it has continued to provide services for centuries in the Ottoman foundation system. The Madrassah is located in the northern section of the Ulu Mosque of Diyarbakır and it is evaluated within the buildings that are associated with this mosque. In the 18th century, the personnel working in the Mesudiye Madrasah, which is known to have made a significant contribution to the educational needs of the city since the date of its construction, have served in various areas such as education, administration, finance, maintenance, repairs and religious duties. In this study, after providing information regarding the historical background and the general condition of the Mesudiye Madrasah, the number of personnel serving in the foundation of the Madrasah in the 18th century, the criteria of their manner of appointment, the variety of their duties and wages are examined in detail in the light of various archival documents by making comparisons with the previous periods.
