Abstract:

Kemer-Edremid, which is located in the Edremit Gulf in the Western Anatolia region and carries the name of Burhaniye today, is one of the townships connected to the Karesi sanjak. Kemer-Edremid, which meets some official demands made by the state, like other districts of the sanjak, sends products such as olive oil and bonito to Istanbul in this direction. In addition to these, prepare timber for the ships to be built within the navy, and supply expert personnel and qualified personnel. There is also a shipbuilding bench in the Kemer-Edremid. The Burhaniye Sharia Registry numbered 1095-1, which was recorded in the years of the first half of the century has documents related to administration, economy, military service, maritime and other subjects. At the today the situation of Ottoman cities has been the subject of various research In this study, based on the documents in the registry in question, the administrative structure of Kemer-Edremid, an Ottoman coastal town at the beginning of the XIXth century, is discussed.
