Abstract:

The work of Memduh Pasha, an important source of Yemen history, called "Yemen Islam and some Mütâlaât", was published in Dersaâdet (Istanbul) in the Numûne-i Tıbâ'at matba in 1325/1909. It is written in Turkish. The author of the work, Mehmed Memduh Pasha (1839-1925), is the youngest son of Mazlum Mustafa Pasha. In 1853 he began his office as an officer in the Foreign Ministry. In 1882 he became a member of the State. Konya was found in the governments of Sivas and Ankara. Lastly, he served 13 years in the Interior Nezareti, which he was appointed on 31 October 1895. He was especially concerned with the issue of Yemen. In fact, Pasha discussed in detail his efforts and proposals for a solution to the Yemen issue with this work. In this regard, it has a distinct importance. There are many works of Memduh Pasha, which is strong in the literary direction, except for this book. In this study, the work of Memduh Pasha called "Yemen Islam and some Mütâlaât" will be studied with various aspects to determine the source value. In this context, the author of the work will first be briefly presented and discussed the controversial issues concerning the title of the book and the printing history. Finally, the work will be tested and evaluated.
