Abstract:

Tourism has considerable potential for developing rural areas, which cannot be developed in different sectors. However, it is vital to get the residents’ opinions and support before taking a step for such a development because tourism development without the residents’ support, which is stated to be one of the most important stakeholders for destinations, will not be sustainable in the long term. Based on these explanations, this study aims "to determine the views and attitudes of the residents of Huser Plateau regarding the tourism development in their region." The theoretical background of the study is based on the theory of social change. The population of the study consists of the inhabitants of Huser Plateau. The data of the study were obtained with the "Tourism Impact Attitude Scale" developed by Lankfordand Howard in 1994. The study is survey research, which is one of the descriptive research models. In line with the data obtained from the study, it was concluded that the residents’ general attitude towards the development of tourism in the Huser Plateau was positive. However, it can be said that there are some problems to be solved in Huser Plateau, such as infrastructure problems, transportation, and environmental problems.
