Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the doctoral programs and educational programs in the field of education in Turkey in the context of the students and teachers' opinions. The method of this research, which is the program assessment work, is the quality research, the design of the study of the situation. The study group consisted of 27 faculty members and 29 students from 22 universities with educational programs and teaching doctoral programs. Students who participated in the study have graduated from eight different bachelor departments. The largest group consists of English teaching graduates with 38%. This group is followed by graduates of primary and secondary mathematics teaching (21%). 66% of students have a master's degree in educational programs and teaching. The graduates in the field of English teaching formed a group of 14%. 65,5% of the participating doctoral students are researchers, 48% are women and 52% are men. 55% of the participating faculty members are doctors, 26% are professors and 19% are doctors. 55% of teachers are men and 45% are women. The data collection technique of the research is a semi-configured conversation form, the data collection tool. In the analysis of data, visual analysis and content analysis techniques have been used. According to students, the most important problems in doctoral programs are the course and task burden, the inefficient passage of courses, negative attitudes towards students, and the determination of the thesis subject. Students are satisfied with their doctoral education at the middle level. According to teachers, the most important problems in doctoral education are the lack of fielding, the lack of number and diversity of courses, the theory-application imbalance, the lack of scientific research courses, the lack of knowledge of teachers, the inefficiency of the student choice system and the lack of university-school cooperation.
