Bu çalışmanın amacı, Eğitim Programları ve Öğretim (EPÖ) alanında eğitim alan lisansüstü öğrencilerin öğretim sürecine ilişkin görüşlerini incelemektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi içerisinde yer alan durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu EPÖ alanında lisansüstü eğitim almış 27 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri, görüşme tekniği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Öğrenciler, akademik kariyer, kişisel gelişim, kişisel ilgi, eğitimle ilgili sorunları çözme, öğrencilere fayda sağlama, başka seçeneğinin olmaması ve alanın kapsamlı olması gibi nedenlerle EPÖ alanında lisansüstü eğitim almayı tercih ettiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Bu programın mesleki ve akademik gelişimlerine katkıda bulunduğunu, akademik yazma becerilerini, öğretme becerilerini geliştirdiğini, zihinlerini genişlettiğini ve öğrenme için motivasyon sağladığını vurgulamışlardır. Buna karşın öğrenciler EPÖ alanında eğitim alırken akademisyenler, kendileri, politikalar, ulaşım ve uzaktan eğitim ile ilgili sorunlar yaşadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Öğrenciler, EPÖ’nün güçlü yönünün mesleki gelişime katkı sağlaması olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca uygulamalı çalışmaların olmaması, öğretmen merkezli öğretim, bilimsel araştırma becerilerinin sağlanamaması, geniş konu kapsamı, verimsiz sınıflar, yoğun ödevler, istatistik derslerinin olmaması, çalışmaların sürekliliğinin olmaması, proje çalışması ve tartışma fırsatlarının olmaması gibi zayıf yönlerinden de bahsetmişlerdir. Öğrenciler ayrıca EPÖ alanında öğrenci merkezli öğretime ve pratik uygulamaya ihtiyaç duyulduğunu vurgulamışlardır. Son olarak, öğrenciler, EPÖ alanının daha etkin olabilmesi için akademisyenlere ve politika yapıcılara önerilerde bulunmuşlardır. Program değerlendirme, eğitim teknolojileri, öğretim yöntem ve teknikleri ve öğretmen eğitiminin EPÖ alanında yer verilmesi gereken konular olduğunu dile getirmişlerdir.
The aim of this study is to examine the views of graduate students who study in the field of Education Programs and Teaching (EPO) on the teaching process. The research method is used in the research method. The study group was formed by 27 students who received postgraduate education in the area of the EPÖ. The research data was obtained using the interview technique. In the analysis of data, the content analysis technique is used. Students have noted that they prefer to undertake postgraduate education in the field of EPO for reasons such as academic career, personal development, personal interest, solving problems related to education, providing students with benefits, lack of other options and the scope is comprehensive. They have emphasized that this program has contributed to professional and academic development, develops academic writing skills, teaching skills, expands their minds and provides motivation for learning. Nevertheless, while students receive education in the EPÖ field, the academics have pointed out that they have problems with policies, transportation and distance learning. Students have stated that the strong side of the EPÖ is to contribute to professional development. They also mentioned the weaknesses such as the lack of practical studies, teaching based on teachers, the lack of scientific research skills, the wide range of subjects, inefficient classes, intense tasks, the lack of statistical courses, the lack of continuity of studies, the lack of project work and the lack of opportunities for discussion. Students have also emphasized the need for student-centered teaching and practical application in the EPÖ field. Finally, students have made recommendations to academics and policy makers to make the EPÖ field more effective. Program assessment, educational technologies, teaching methods and techniques and teaching education are topics that should be included in the field of the EPÖ.
The purpose of this study was to examine the opinions of graduate students who received education in the field of Curriculum and Instruction Graduate Program (CIGP) regarding the teaching process. A case study design, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The study group consisted of 27 graduate students. The data was collected through interview technique. In the analysis of the data, content analysis technique was used. The students stated that they preferred the CIGP due to some reasons such as academic career, personal development, personal interest, solving problems related to education, providing benefits for students, having no other option, and the comprehensive nature of the CIGP. They emphaszed that CIGP contributed to their professional and academic development and improved their academic writing skill, teaching skill, brodened their mind, and provided motivation for learning. On the other hand, the students stated that they faced problems related to academicians, themselves, policies, transportation, and distance education while taking education in CIGP. They expressed the strengths of the CIGP as its contribution to professional development. They also mentioned about the weaknesses of CIGP as the lack of practical studies, teacher-centered instruction, failure to provide scientific research skills, wide subject scope, inefficient classes, intensive homework, lack of statistics courses, lack of continuity of studies, lack of project work, and lack of opportunities for discussion. The students also emphasized the need for student-centered teaching and practical application in the CIGP. Lastly, they provided suggestions to academics and policy makers to make the CIGP more effective. They stated that curriculum evaluation, educational technologies, teaching methods and techniques, and teacher training should be offered in the CIGP.
