Abstract:

The aim of this study is "How can a social information teaching be designed and taught in the context of the "Silk Road Turks" unit under the 6th class Social Information course, where women's actors in history are made visible at least as men and that will reflect the social gender perspective?" Looking for the answer to the question. A social information teaching in which the women’s actors in history are more visible, designed from a gender perspective and made the past more concrete with a rich historical material is to identify how the social information teaching has influenced/transformed students’ past and social gender perceptions. The research model is an experimental model with the intest-sontest control group. The participants in this study are 6th-class students studying in a high school located in Sinop province in the 2014-2015 educational year. The form is prepared as a data collection tool. In the processing of data, the SPSS 21.0 package program has been used for the frequency, percentage and two variables. Students have found that the matters that include political and economic issues in general are more important than the matters that include social issues. Students’ work coded traditionally in the “special” fields such as fighting, country management, horse riding and throwing, sports like football, competition, helping the country management and trade has come to the conclusion that they have begun to think that women can do it after the application. Teaching programs and lessons where women are visible and gender equality is taken into account can be prepared.
