Abstract:

Abstract:

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, after winning the country’s independence, has occasionally gone to foreign trips. These trips usually occurred immediately before or after significant political and social developments. Ataturk's last foreign tour is the Mersin and Adana tour between 19 and 24 May 1938 which he carried out due to the Hatay issue. The reason for this trip is that the Alexandrian (Hatay) Sanca, which is located within the Misak National borders, has remained outside the territory of Turkey due to the military and political conditions of the National Struggle period. But Ataturk was not satisfied with this situation and expected the appropriate conditions for the region to participate in the native. It has also taken action with the developments that occurred before the Second World War. But the negotiations between France and the region have come to a stop. After that, Atatürk went to a foreign trip that covers Mersin and Adana, up from the patient’s bed in order to solve this obstacle, which is equal to a period in which his health is worsening from day to day. During the trip, he inspected the military forces and showed his determination in the Hatay issue to the whole world, including France. In addition to Atatürk’s determined attitude, the upcoming war threat has led to the rapid progress of negotiations and the gain of Hatay’s independence. Hatay, who won his independence, joined Turkey shortly. In this study, Atatürk's last domestic trip and the impact of this trip on Hatay's participation in the native process were discussed.
