Abstract:

This study is based on the survey research which is conducted to learn university orientations and the directions of university preferences of the students of Eyüp AİHL (Anatolian Vocational Religious High School) for Girls. The aim of the study is dealing with the factors that determine the university orientations of senior students. According to the results, it is found that almost all of the students want to take university education. However, most of them are inclined to the departments other than religious-vocational fields to a great extent after the abolition of coefficient limitation whereas they were more inclined to religious-vocational departments when coefficient rule was in force. Fields that are preferred by the students are to a great extent, verbal fields. Their demand for self-actualization in line with their ideals is very determining in their university orientations. The great majority of the students attend dershane (cram schools) for the university preparation exam. Two prominent factors that hinder and make university entrance difficult are unqualified education in high school and the system of examination.
