Abstract:

Dünyadaki değişimlerle birlikte, ilköğretim müfredatında revizyona gidilmiş ve klasik eğitim anlayışından uzaklaşılarak; bilim, bilimsel bilgi, bilimin ve bilimsel araştırmanın doğası gibi kavramlar üzerine odaklanılmıştır. Bilimin doğasına ilişkin ifadeler araştırmanın ve bilimsel bilginin “ürünü” iken; bilimsel araştırmanın doğasına ilişkin ifadeler, bilginin nasıl üretildiği ve kabul edildiğine ilişkin, araştırma “sürecini” kapsamaktadır. Araştırmanın amacı doğrudan-yansıtıcı yaklaşımla uygulanan bilimin doğası etkinlikleri öncesi ve sonrasında, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilimsel araştırmanın doğasına yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırma İstanbul’daki bir üniversitenin, ilköğretim bölümü fen bilgisi öğretmenliği ABD 1. sınıfındaki 23 öğretmen adayının katılımıyla 8 haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada bilimin doğası anlayışının geliştirilmesi amacıyla literatürde de yer alan 8 farklı etkinlik uygulanmıştır. Araştırma verileri 7 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan “bilimsel araştırmanın doğası hakkında görüşler ölçeği (VOSI)”, görüşme soruları ve video kayıtlarıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler nitel very toplama yöntemlerinden olan içerik analiziyle değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar uygulanan öğretimin uygulama toplumu boyutu hariç, bilimsel araştırmanın doğası anlayışında değişime neden olmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca öğretmen adaylarının tek bir bilimsel yöntemin olması ve verilerin doğrulanması için genellikle deney yapılması gerektiği yönünde görüş ortaya koydukları ve literatürde yer alan çeşitli yanılgılara da sahip olduklarını göstermektedir. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda, bilimsel araştırmanın doğası anlayışının kazandırılabilmesi için özel olarak tasarlanmış ders planlarının hazırlanması önerilmektedir.

With the changes in the world, the primary education curriculum has been revised and removed from the classical understanding of education; it focuses on concepts such as science, scientific knowledge, the nature of science and scientific research. The expression of the nature of science is the "product" of research and scientific knowledge; the expression of the nature of scientific research includes the "process" of research on how information is produced and accepted. The purpose of the research is to determine the views of the scientist candidates on the nature of scientific research, before and after the nature of the scientific activities applied with a direct-reflective approach. Research at an university in Istanbul, the Department of Primary Education teaches science in the US 1. The study was carried out in 8 weeks with the participation of 23 teachers in the class. In the study, 8 different activities included in literature were applied in order to develop the understanding of the nature of science. The research data was collected with the "Vocations Scale on the Nature of Scientific Research (VOSI)", interview questions and video recordings consisting of 7 open end questions. The data obtained from the research was evaluated by content analysis of the quality very collection methods. The findings from the research show that, except for the social size of the practiced teaching, scientific research does not cause a change in the understanding of the nature. It also shows that teachers’ candidates have an opinion that it is a single scientific method and that it is often necessary to be experimented to verify the data, and that they also have a variety of errors in literature. In accordance with the achieved results, it is recommended to prepare specifically designed curricula plans to provide a comprehension of the nature of scientific research.

Along with the changes in the worldwide, primary education curriculum has been revised; concepts such as science, scientific knowledge, nature of science and scientific knowledge became the focus of the system. When the explanations about nature of science are the “product” of inquiry and scientific knowledge; the explanations about scientific inquiry are those that pertain most to the processes of inquiry, the “how” the knowledge is generated and accepted. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of activity based explicit-reflective nature of science teaching on prospective science teachers’ understanding of the nature of scientific inquiry. The study was conducted with 23 1st grade prospective science teachers at a university in Istanbul and lasted for 8 weeks. 8 different activity has been applied for developing nature of science understanding of teacher candidates. The data of the study were collected with “the nature of scientific inquiry questionnaire (VOSI)” including 7 open-ended questions, interview questions and video recordings. The data gathered from the questionnaire were analyzed by means of ideographic analysis. The outcomes of study showed that the teaching process didn’t cause change on the understanding of the nature of scientific inquiry, except the community of practice dimension. Besides these teacher candidates think that there is only one scientific method; and experiments have been made for verifying data set. These understandings also shown us that teacher candidates have some of misconceptions which is in literature. Upon the findings, it is recommended to prepare specially designed class plans in order to enable students to get the idea of the nature of scientific inquiry.
