Bu çalışmada, liderliğin tanımı, liderlik kuramları, öğretmen liderliği, lider öğretmende bulunması gereken özellikler, lider öğretmenin güç kaynakları, öğretmen liderliğinin etkileri anlatılmıştır. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için literatür tarama modeline yönelik bir çalışma yürütülmüştür Liderliğin ne olduğuna dönük insanoğlu hep bir merak içinde olmuştur. Çevrelerindeki bazı insanların, diğer insanlardan farklı olarak daha üretken, daha yaratıcı, daha cesur vb. olmalarını araştırmışlardır. Bilimsel araştırmaların olmadığı dönemlerde bu konuya mistik açıklamalar getirmeye çalışmışlardır. Bilimle birlikte liderlik hakkında binlerce araştırmaya yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Dünden bugüne çeşitli şekillerde değişen birçok kuramsal açıklama getirilmiştir. Hala ne olduğu konusunda tam bir netlik sağlanamamıştır. Liderlik rolü günümüzde öğretmenlerin değişen profiline eklenen niteliklerden biri olmuştur. Yeni eğitim anlayışında bilgiyi aktaran öğretmenden çok, öğrenciye, veliye, okul çevresine ve meslektaşlarına öğrenmede, bireysel ve toplumsal gelişimde ön ayak olabilecek, yol gösterecek lider öğretmen modeli değer kazanmaktadır. Eğitim, değişme ve dönüşüm sürecinde önemli bir araç olarak görülmektedir. Bu bağlamda öğretmen liderliği yeni olmasa bile gitgide önem kazanan bir kavram haline gelmektedir. Bu çalışmanın sonunda sınıf yönetiminde liderliğin öneminden, lider öğretmende bulunması gereken özelliklerden, sınıf ve okul başarısına katkılarından bahsedilmiştir. Okulların işlevini amaçlarına uygun olarak hizmet edebilmesi için okullardaki öğretmen liderlerin etkin hale getirilmesi gereklidir. Öğretmen liderliğiyle birlikte okullardaki eğitimin kalitesi de yükselecektir.

In this study ; the definition of leadership, the leadership theories , the leadership of the teacher , the charecteristics of a leader teacher , the power supply of a leader teacher and the effects of the leader ship are described.
