2003-2012 YILLARI ARASINDA TÜRKİYE’DE KARMA ARAŞTIRMA YÖNTEMİYLE YAPILAN EĞİTİM ÇALIŞMALARININ ANALİZİ

Nitel ve nicel yaklaşımların tek bir çalışmada birleştirilmesiyle ortaya çıkan karma yöntem paradigması, araştırmaya kattığı zenginlik ve güvenilirlik açısından araştırmacılar tarafından giderek tercih edilmektedir. Bu bakımdan ülkemizde karma yöntemin kullanıldığı çalışmaların sistematik biçimde analiz edilmesi önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de sosyal bilimler alanında son 10 yılda karma araştırma yöntemiyle yapılan çalışmaların yıllara, dergilere, disiplinlere, örneklem türlerine göre dağılımlarını ortaya çıkarmak, karma yöntemin doğasında bulunan araştırma gerekçesini, yöntemlerin (nitel-nicel) baskınlık düzeylerinin ve sırasının dağılımlarını, hangi araştırma tasarımının daha ön plana çıktığını belirlemektir. Bu amaçla 2003-2012 yılları arasında Türkiye’de eğitim alanında karma yöntemi kullanan makalelere ulusal veri tabanlarından ulaşılarak içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında karma yöntemin kullanıldığı tespit edilen 97 Türkçe yayın incelenmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda en fazla 2011 yılında karma yöntem araştırmalarının yapıldığı, araştırmaların en çok Hacettepe Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi ile İlköğretim Online dergisinde yayınlandığı, çalışmaların genellikle öğretmen adaylarıyla ve ilköğretim bölümü sınıf öğretmenliği ile ortaöğretim matematik ve coğrafya eğitimi alanlarında yürütüldüğü belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca karma yöntem araştırmalarının en fazla üçgenleme gerekçesiyle yapıldığı ve en çok ise kısmen karma eş zamanlı eşit statülü tasarımın benimsendiği ortaya çıkmıştır. Sonuçların son yıllarda ülkemizde bu yöntemin kullanıldığı çalışmaların doğası hakkında fikir sahibi olmak adına alan yazına önemli katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Ayrıca, karma yöntemin (KY) ulusal literatüre yansıması hakkında kapsamlı bir fikir edinilmiş olacak ve bu yönteme ilgi duyan, eğitim bilimlerinin farklı alanlarında çalışan araştırmacıların mevcut durumdan haberdar olmaları sağlanacaktır.

Mixed method paradigm, the combination of qualitative and qualitative approaches in a single study, has been gradually preferred by the researchers due to its richness and reliability. In this regard, systematic analysis of the studies using mixed method is important. Aim of this study is to reveal the distribution of mixed method researches published in education in Turkey last ten years. Publication year, name of journals, sampling type, rationale for the use of mixed method, emphasis of approaches (qualitative and quantitative) and their sequences, and emerging prominent research design were the factors that are sought through this study. Mixed method studies published in education between 2003-2012 were retrieved through national databases and a total number of 97 articles were examined. Following results were revealed after an extensive analysis of data: Most of the mixed method articles were published at Hacettepe University Journal of Education and Elementary Education Online Journal; studies were usually conducted with preservice teachers, elementary school teachers (1-5th grade), secondary school mathematics and geography education programs; most widely stated reason of using mixed method was triangulation; and most adopted research design was partially mixed concurrent equal status design. In conclusion, it is believed that findings of this research will contribute to the literature by means of having an idea about the nature of the studies using mixed method research in Turkey and reflections of this method into the national literature.
