Abstract:

Crime, immigration, and identity can be handled in many different contexts within social theory. Criminality, immigration, and identity cannot be handled independently of social structure and relations. Sociological approaches to crime theory are explained by crime structural, interaction-oriented and conflict-oriented theories. The sociological structure theories try to explain the criminal behavior with factors such as institutional structures, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, sex, migration, urbanization, unemployment, poverty. Interaction-centric approaches emphasize the concepts of social stigma and stamping, control and learning. Conflict-centered approaches consider crime as a reflection of the power foci within the social structure. Each of these theoretical approaches to the phenomenon of crime is closely related to the phenomenon of migration and identity. The immigration process, defined as the horizontal movement of the population, leads to the emergence of complex relationships between immigrants and the host society. These relations may cause harmony and may also cause conflict and parallel socialization. Challenges and problems faced by immigrants in the integration process also trigger many different problems, especially the anomie. One of the strategies immigrants have developed to deal with these problems is to build a new identity. In the study, special for the Syrians, expressed as "asylum seeker identity", is formed by the emergence of the anomaly that emerges with migration as a norm. Asylum seeker identity makes it easier for immigrants to be involved in the production relations in the city but makes it difficult for them to cope with economic, social, legal and cultural problems.
