Abstract:

The aim of this research is to identify ways to develop the idea of the structure of the different text used in 7th class students. The research is a descriptive study population consisted on 7th classes. The sample included 90 students, 45 of them from the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Secondary School which is located in the center of Adıyaman, the other 45 students from the Borsa İmam Hatip Secondary School. Data collection tool are printed texts in different text structures written by students on topics identified by researchers. The data is analyzed by the researchers according to ' the evaluation form of thoughts on ways to develop’. The results obtained are given in the form of signs as frequency (f), percentage (%) and mean (?). According to the results of research, the most commonly used way to develop thought is to comparison (f=84). The second most commonly used way to develop thoughts is the analogy (f = 43). The least used way to develop thoughts is showing witness (f = 3) In the most informative text structure, the way of developing thoughts (f=95) was being used and in the least narrative text structure, the way of developing thoughts (f= 60) was being used. The argumentative text is the second most used way to develop thoughts (f=66). As a result, in the student’s the ways of develop thoughts (f=221)are used text. In this study it is seen that students used the ways of developing thoughts to express themselves in informative text structures more than other text structures. In this study where the status of the ways of developing thoughts being used in text structures established, shows that students should be improved in ways of developing thoughts such as showing witness, utilize from numerical data and identification.
