Abstract:

All men perceive their world and themselves through their five senses. All knowledge about the world, themselves and others, all opinion they develop, depends on the data gathered by their senses. The model of the world which created during this process, although like identity and character based on the knowledge acquired with and by the human senses. All data that reach the person from the world outside of him/her are visual, audial, kinesthetic, gustatorial and olfactativ. To turn the data that reach the person in pieces into complete information related to meaning and to share this information it needed to be coded as language. The codes which created during the coding process are also related to the system of sense they come from. So there will be concepts of seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling by the processing of codes. In fact of the progress in technology, media and communication most of the perception depends on seeing followed by hearing and touching. So it’s not too far to claim that there are many codes created in used language which are grounded on the senses of seeing, hearing and touching. Therefor the aim of this study is to examine the influence of the senses on the usage of language and if there is a relation between sense and speech. In this context of a qualitative research design a group of nine test subjects was constituted by a pretest. Further there were determined a group of words according to the sensual systems. The test subjects were asked a structured and open ending question for each sense and their answers recorded by digital video. Afterwards their speech was transcript and the vocabulary they used defined. The defined vocabulary compared with the word groups of the sense to show the frequency of their usage. Finally the results are discussed depending on the theory of world field.
