Abstract:

Turkey and Italy are two regional powers with common interests in the Mediterranean, with common history and share of value. The two countries want to work together to find solutions to regional and international problems. This study examines these relations between the two countries during the post-World War II period not only from a political point of view, but also from a commercial and socio-cultural point of view. Because the resources of the study period (1946-1950) were limited in terms of the method of study, the newspapers and magazines that best kept the light of the period were scaned as the main sources of the study. The work was also supported by the use of the Prime Minister's Republic Archive documents. In the first part of the study, the period called the Turkish National Struggle, the Turkish-Italian Relations, in the second part the Atatürk Turkey and Mussolini Italy Period, in the third part the Turkish-Italian Relations during World War II, and in the last part the Turkish-Italian Relations in the post-World War II Period were studied. The study found that the friendly relations between Italy and Turkey between 1946 and 1950 showed themselves in both political and commercial relations as well as in socio-cultural relations, and Italy became an indispensable partner of Turkey.
