Öz: Oğuz Kağan Destanı Türk destan geleneğinin en önemli eserlerinden biridir. Bu destanın yazma nüshası Paris Millî Kütüphanesinde bulunmaktadır. Eser Uygur harfleriyle yazılmıştır ve muhtemelen 14. yüzyıldan önce yazıya geçirilmiştir. Oğuzlar bu destanı dilden dile aktararak destanın günümüze kadar gelmesini sağlamıştır. Bu destanda mitolojik unsurlar çok fazla yer alır. Reşideddin Oguznamesi ise, Oğuz Kağan ve oğullarına ait rivayetleri ihtiva eder. Bu Oğuzname tarihî bir bakış açısıyla yazılmıştır. Bu çalışmada iki eserin de kahramanı olan Oğuz Kağan, alp tipi bakımından karşılaştırılmaya çalışılacaktır.
