Abstract:

After the 2000s in our country, students-centered approaches in education have been adopted. It is essential that the student’s interests and needs be moved while the teaching activities are carried out in a student-centered approach. In this approach, the responsibility of learning is more on the student than the teacher. Therefore, knowing the development characteristics of the target audience in religious education, i.e. recognizing the student, is of great importance. Students studying in daily teaching are usually in childhood and youth. This study aims to identify the needs of religion teaching by moving from the development characteristics of today’s youth. In this context, the topic has been discussed in two topics, the general development characteristics of the youth period and the religious and moral development characteristics. In the result section, recommendations on the aspects that should be taken into account in the teaching of religion by moving from the development characteristics of young people studying at the high school level were placed. It is hoped that the research will be useful to meet the youth’s educational needs today.
