Abstract:

The purpose of the research is to develop effective use recommendations for the practitioners by determining how the types of visual materials specified in the 5th class visual reading achievements are associated with the fields of skills in the activities in the curriculum. Through the document review, the state of the activities included in the 5th Class Turkish Curriculum, where the MEB Publications have prepared the visual materials indicated in the 5th Class visual reading achievements in the program, has been identified. In the collection of data, the "Visual Material Type Detection Form" analysis has adopted the visual analysis technique.The research results have found that the fields of visual reading and visual presentation learning in the program are not regarded as an independent skill and are associated with achievements. Three of the 5th-class visual reading achievements in the program are associated with graphics, tables and cartoons. The other two achievements have not been specifically associated with a type of visual material and have been found that the visual concept, which is a more general expression in those achievements, is used. In the events, a dozen different visual materials were used, including photo, cartoon, drawing, illustration, poster, map, table, digital drawing, painting, icons and kroki; the visual material types were mostly associated with the writing skills, the visual material types were not included with the listening skills. The achievements in visual literature in the program are associated with the ability to speak, but six of the visual materials used in the activities are not associated with the ability to speak. At the point of association with reading skills, the program and events can be said to be compatible. It can be said that the visual materials indicated in the achievements of visual literature and used in the activities are compatible as a type. The painting, painting and caricature in the achievements of visual literature are involved in the events; although it is achieved in the achievements, the graphics from the types of visual material are not used in the events. Even though it is not included in the achievements of visual literature, it appears that crocodile, icons, digital drawings, maps, posters, illustrations, drawings and photographs have been included in the events.
