Abstract:

During the Second World War (1939-1945) Turkey increased the number of soldiers in its army to ensure the defense of the homeland in the face of a possible danger, trying to meet the needs of an army ready for war at any moment. One dimension of preparing a military for war is the defense of the country; the other dimension is the effects it creates on the country’s economy. The abolition of the majority of the producer sector has led to the decline of production, the rise of prices in consumer materials and the decrease of the public’s purchasing power. Social assistance institutions have been established throughout the country to relieve the social and economic situation of the people. In the first place, they also come to the Social Assistance Branches of the People's Republic, the Red, the Children's Assembly and the Assistant Society. These aid organizations established throughout the country have taken the functions such as relieving the difficulties of the war on the poor and low-income peoples, serving the satisfaction of the basic needs, protecting the poor children, and possessing them. This study, taking advantage of the 1939-1945 presses of the newspaper "Green in Trakya" in the II. The aim of the World War is to explore the work of the aid organizations established for the poor people during the World War.
