In this article, the life and parliamentary activities of one of Çankırı deputies Kemal Atakurt, who witnessed the progress of transition to democracy of Turkish Republic and gave an honourable struggle in this way, are discussed. Atakurt entered and took part for a period in the 9th Turkish Grand National Assembly as a deputy with the 1950 parliamentary election which was the first democratically election in Republic of Turkey. In the assembly including the period he was in, he was one of the colourful personalities of assembly with the parliamentary questions he gave and assembly speeches he made. After the end of his deputy who dealt with politics for a long time, Kemal Atakurt also engaged in farming and trade.
